Adding Symbols into Documents, Blogs or Facebook

Symbols are things such as the smiley ☺or sad face.  Microsoft Word users would know them from Insert, Symbol and then clicking on the symbol required.  However that feature isn’t always available if you are not using a Microsoft product, so another way to do this is to use Alt Codes.

All this means is that you hold down the Alt key (left side under the Z) and then press the numbers on the keypad on the right (you cannot use the numbers on the top row of the keyboard).

As an example  I have used Alt & 1, Alt & 2, etc up to Alt & 10 to get the symbols below.

☺ ☻ ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ • ◘ ○ ◙

(and if you want you can do this in a Word document instead of inserting symbols!)
